2-1. What Types of Helmet are Susceptible to Ejection?
  Moped and motorcycle helmets are classified into the four categories shown in Figure 9.
  Of these, half helmets are intended only for motorbikes with an engine displacement of 125cc or less.

  Of the 368 accidents analyzed, helmet ejection was witnessed in 64 cases. The number of ejection cases by type of helmet is shown in Figure 10. Helmets classified as "Others" are few in number, but have a very high 42.9% ejection rate. This category of helmets means types other than the four types identified in Figure 9, and include helmets for bicycles, for construction workers and fancy novelty helmets, all of which are not approved as motorcycle helmets. Of regular helmets for two-wheeled vehicles, half helmets were most likely to come off in accidents, at 30.1%.
