Figure 10 shows the numbers of traffic fatalities per hour during rainfall and no rainfall by violation type for the time period of 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Each time period has its own characteristics regarding speed limit violations and inattention to the vehicle ahead.

Chart 9. Rainfall/no rainfall comparison of number of fatalities per hour by time period and violation type

Figure 11 reveals that on a per hour basis during rainfall there are more fatalities involving drivers who ignore traffic signals, violate the speed limit, are inattentive to the vehicles ahead of them and fail to check for safety during the time period from 5:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. than the time period from 3:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
