1 Situation of Children's Traffic Accidents
Air bags are deployed when an impact above a certain force is applied to the front of a car.
Here, auto accident patterns in which vehicle's front collides, as in a frontal crash and a crash into the preceding car shown below, are analyzed to clarify the correlations between the presence or absence of air bags and types of injury suffered by car occupants.
The analyzed cars are sedan-type, ordinary-sized passenger cars in which the presence or absence of air bags was determined. Of the accidents involved, those other than frontal or crashes into the preceding cars, accidents on expressways, multi-vehicle accidents, and accidents with heavy-duty cargo carriers were excluded.
